You can study for category B from the age of 15.5.

Passenger cars and light vans come with either manual or automatic gearboxes. By studying at a driving school and passing a driving test at the Transport Administration using a manual gearbox, you will be able to drive all B-category cars (having an automatic or a manual gearbox) in the future.

However, if you study at a driving school and take the driving test at the Transport Administration using an automatic gearbox, you will only be able to drive cars with an automatic gearbox in the future.
